Being a Sponsor is a wonderful oportunity to share your faith with someone!! Thank you!!
Thank you for your time and energy in helping them grow in their faith and relationship with Christ.
You have valuable gifts, talents, and are important to the candidate or they wouldn't have chosen you!

Requirements
A Sponsor must be a practicing, confirmed Catholic, who is at least 17 years of age. A parent can NOT be a sponsor, but a godparent is a good choice. The candidate is encouraged to choose someone close by. The sponsor should be a person who is prayerful, open, dependable, loving, and is comfortable sharing his or her faith with the candidate. The sponsor must be able to attend the confirmation ceremony and sponsor preparation day, unless there are special circumstances or an emergency, so please plan accordingly.

Role
The sponsor represents the support and prayer of the entire Church.
He/she will be the candidate’s “spiritual friend.” The following is asked of the sponsor:
- Accompany the candidate to the ‘Sponsor and Candidate session’, which is specifically designed for sponsor/candidate interaction. Please refer to the calendar for the date.
- Attend the Liturgy of Confirmation and present the candidate during the Confirmation Rite to the Bishop. Please refer to the calendar for the date.
- To meet with the candidate regularly throughout preparation and be there for any guidance the candidate may need.
- Share their faith story with his or her candidate.
- Spend time getting to know the candidate; taking him/her out to lunch or dinner, or having him/her over to your home.
- Pray for and with the candidate.
- Continue to be there for the candidate and lend spiritual support after the Confirmation ceremony is over.
